Eric Bennett

A graduate of Union College and Teachers College, Columbia University, Eric Bennett returned to his hometown of Saranac Lake to teach English in 2001. After working with Saranac Lake's junior varsity program as a volunteer assistant, he was hired as an assistant varsity coach in 2003. Eric has been the offensive coordinator for the Red Storm for the last two seasons.

I was born a country kid in Pembroke NY where I played HS football for 4 years and went on to play 4 years at Adelphi Univ in the late 1960's 1966-69. I was captain of the team in 69' and we competed in a tri state league in NY ,NJ and Conn. Following graduation I was an assistant football coach at Adelphi until 1972 . From there I coached football at Rush Henrietta HS outside Rochester with former Syracuse All American Jerry Everling. From Henrietta I moved to Canton on the suggestion of my former line coach at Adelphi (and later St Lawrence Univ), Don Leet, where I took over the Football and Lacrosse Programs. I have coached Football in Canton for the past 24 years, winning championships in 1987 and 2002. I have had the pleasure to coach both of my sons in football and lacrosse. My older son Nick, competed in the North Country All Star Football game in 2005 and my younger son Sam is competing on this years team was was an honor for them and me.
